However, Ten Hag's charges were unable to see off the visitors as they went down to another 3-1 loss at home.

According to BBC Sport, ex-Man United striker Danny Welbeck opened the scoring for Brighton in the 20th minute, with two second-half goals from Pascal Grob and Joao Pedro earning the visitors a comfortable win.

This was the Red Devils' third defeat in five Premier League games to continue their nightmare start to the season.

Ten Hag blames flops for Brighton defeat

Ten Hag has now hit out at his own players for not sticking to the game plan during the Brighton clash.

The Mirror reports that the Dutchman, who often deploys a 4-2-3-1 formation, opted for a diamond midfield against Brighton.

The decision appeared to work well before the visitors took an early lead courtesy of Welbeck.

Reacting to the result, Ten Hag pointed a finger at his own players for United's defeat.

"There's always some improvements to make, especially the organisation. But it was not our day. The second goal was straight after half-time. Second chance, second goal, very clinical. It was a setback we did not deal with so good," he said.
"You learn many things from such a game. From the mental side, you can keep strong in moments, but I have seen some good stuff. the way we created many chances we are just not finishing them, but that will change," he continued.

Jadon Sancho watches U18s

Sports Brief also reported on Jadon Sancho’s whereabouts on Saturday as Manchester United prepared to take on Brighton and Hove Albion.

Sancho was banished from the first team after his public spat with head coach Erik ten Hag, stemming from the manager's criticism of his training attitude.

As spotted by Transfer News Live, Sancho was at Carrington to watch the U18 team take on Nottingham Forest, a game they won 2-1 thanks to goals from Victor Musa Aigbomian and Jack Kingdon.
