Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has shared his perspective on why Cristiano Ronaldo should be recognized as one of the 'greatest footballers of all time'.

Giggs, who enjoyed six successful seasons alongside Ronaldo at Old Trafford, believes that the latter's consistent ability to win matches makes him a true standout in the sport.

While the former Welsh international may have a personal connection to his former teammate, Ronaldo's extensive record and numerous game-changing performances support Giggs' assertion.

Cristiano, currently playing for Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, has been a dominant force in world football for nearly two decades, alongside Lionel Messi, and they are widely regarded as the greatest footballers of all time (GOAT).

The 49-year-old reflected on CR7's remarkable journey from a young prodigy to a bona fide football legend, having witnessed it firsthand.

"At United, you couldn't imagine that Cristiano Ronaldo would become one of the greatest goalscorers in history. You just couldn't," he began as quoted by Football Tweet.
"In his first match against Bolton, he delighted the crowd with his gestures, but then there were the dives, the frustration, he didn't know when to pass the ball, he was doing too much dribbling, diving... his debut was difficult.
The former United winger continued: "Then all of a sudden, it clicked and then you just had to pass the ball to Cristiano. Even in our team, where there was Tevez, Scholes or even Rooney, he was the one who made the difference.

Ryan went a step further to reminisce about the numerous occasions when Ronaldo rescued them from the brink of defeat with his game-changing heroics.

"He was the one who saved us when we were in trouble. He has become a goalscorer, the man who wins matches at the highest level.
"All the greatest players in history are revealed during the big moments. He did it for us, as he then did for Real Madrid and Juventus.
"It is a certainty: he must be considered one of the greatest players of all time," he concluded.

Ronaldo names GOAT alongside himself and Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner mentioned Messi and another player he regards as one of the greatest he has ever witnessed.

During a controversial interview with Piers Morgan, which played a role in Ronaldo's departure from Man United, the host asked about the best player the star had ever seen, excluding himself.

In response, the Portuguese veteran identified Zinedine Zidane as the player he considers GOAT alongside himself and Messi.
