Barcelona youngster, Lamine Yamal has revealed his electric style of play has been inspired by Brazilian superstar, Neymar, who is touted as one of the most skillful footballers in the world.

The 16-year-old winger is the latest youngster to sprout from the Catalans' famous La Masia academy and the teenager has quickly become a global superstar due to his performances.

According to Forbes, Yamal has broken several records this season already, including becoming Barca's youngest-ever La Liga appearance maker when he was handed a short cameo at the end of a 4-0 win over Real Betis in April.

The youngster, who also holds the record as the youngest player to debut for the Spanish senior men’s team, has revealed he watched Neymar a lot as a child as he remains a fan of the Al-Hilal superstar, per Tribuna.

With the exit of Ousmane Dembele this summer, Yamal has inherited the right-wing position from the Frenchman and has put in a wonderful shift in all his performances.

Man City tried to sign Lamine from Barca

Meanwhile, Manchester City tried to snap up Barcelona prodigy, Yamal this summer after the youngster impressed during preseason for the Catalan giants, Barca Universal reports.

Enric Masip, the advisor to La Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, revealed in an interview that an unnamed club was very close to signing two of the club's prized gems: Yamal and Alejandro Balde.

The youngster is said to have refused an offer from the reigning Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners and has remained in Catalonia, where he hopes to prosper under Xavi.

Lamine Yamal makes Barcelona history

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on aYamal becoming Barcelona's youngest debutant in La Liga at the age of 15 years, 9 months and 16 days.

The teenage sensation was handed his debut for the Catalans by manager, Xavi Hernandez in the game against Real Betis at Camp Nou.

Yamal replaced Gavi with seven minutes remaining and already has many talking, with some declaring the teen has a bright football future.
