FootballErik ten Hag Aims Brutal Dig at Solskjaer, Vindicates Mourinho With Remarks Over Sancho and Antony
- Erik ten Hag has faced the press for the first time since Jadon Sancho and Antony were suspended
- Antony was allowed time away after assault allegations, while Sancho was suspended for disciplinary reasons
- The Dutchman's comment on the two appeared to aim a dig at former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
The veil of deception some Manchester United fans put on themselves over Jose Mourinho's time and departure at the club appears to have taken another hit with Erik ten Hag's recent comments.
Mourinho managed Manchester United for two and half seasons before he was dismissed in December 2018 and replaced by former striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Portuguese endured a difficult time at Old Trafford, with fans criticising his style of play and man management at the club. The fans spent the Solskjaer era using every one of their legend's actions to rewrite and undo Mourinho's prints at the club.
Unfortunately, after over £400m spent, clearing of deadwood and cultural reboot by the baby-face Ole, he won no trophies, losing the 2021 Europa League final to Villarreal after falling short at multiple semi-finals, with the club going on a six-year trophy drought since Jose won them the 2016 Europa League.
Solskjaer was fired at Old Trafford midway through the 2021/22 season. Michael Carrick oversaw two games before Ralf Rangnick managed the rest of the season as interim manager, and ten Hag was appointed.
The Dutch boss broke the club's trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup. However, he has faced many disciplinary issues with stars at Old Trafford, including Cristiano Ronaldo, as he aims to stamp his authority.

Jadon Sancho and Antony are the latest in the line of disciplinary actions. The Brazilian was told to stay away from the team after allegations of assault against him by three women.
Kane sends message to Man Utd ahead of UCL group stage meeting with Bayern
FootballAccording to The Athletic, Sancho was suspended indefinitely for refusing to apologise to his manager after both clashes in the media after the 3-1 loss to Arsenal.
Speaking ahead of the game against Brighton, as quoted by Manchester Evening News, ten Hag commented on both cases.
"Strict lines is what the club asked me because there was no good culture before last season so to set good standards, that is what I did and it is my job to control the standards," he said.
"It is never someone makes one mistake, it is a whole process before you come to a certain outcome about strict lines. There is a structure to cross lines so you have to be strong."
The comments have come in strong against Solskjaer, whom some of the Red Devils fans convinced themselves did a cultural reboot at the club after the departure of the 'dinosaur' Mourinho.
