According to Caught Offside, Greenwood, who was acquitted of all charges against him, has now sold more Getafe shirts with his name on the back in a week than any other player in the club’s history.

The controversial footballer has been welcomed with open arms at the La Liga club and fans turned out in their numbers for his official unveiling at the Alfonzo Perez Coliseum in Madrid recently.

Greenwood last played a competitive match in January 2022 and will hope to resurrect his career at the La Liga club after they took the risk of bringing him to Spain, despite the backlash.

Greenwood's Getafe debut date revealed

Meanwhile, Greenwood is reportedly set to be handed an immediate debut by Getafe when the Madrid club tackles Osasuna on Sunday, September 17, GOAL reports.

The coaching staff have been impressed with the 21-year-old forward’s sharpness and plan to throw him in as soon as they can despite his lack of playing time in the last few months.

Greenwood made 129 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals during that time, and he is still contracted to the Premier League club until 2025.

When Greenwood chose Messi or Ronaldo

Previously, Sports Brief reported Greenwood being asked his GOAT opinion before the start of the 2021-22 campaign as a promising youngster. He had to answer who he felt the better player was: Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

The youngster gave his verdict on the eternal football debate in a Q&A with fans back in July 2021. Surprisingly, the Englishman did not choose the former Man United great with his answer, opting to go with the Argentine legend instead.
