FootballVidal Names Quality That Sets Suarez Ahead of Lewandowski
- Arturo Vidal has lauded his former teammates Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski
- He feels Suarez has the upper hand because he has a quality Lewandowski does not
- Suarez and Lewandowski have scored a combined 1,004 goals in their club careers
Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski are undoubtedly two of the best strikers in the 21st century. They have played for top European clubs and scored hundreds of goals.
Former Barcelona midfielder, Arturo Vidal feels his ex-teammate, Suarez is better than another former teammate, Lewandowski, who currently plays for La Blaugrana.
Suarez currently plays for Gremio in Brazil and at 36, is edging closer to retirement. He has played for Ajax, Liverpool, Barcelona, Groningen, and Atletico Madrid in Europe. In his club career, he has scored a total of 460 goals and provided 255 assists.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski has scored 344 goals in his club career. He has played for Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona, Lech Poznan, and Znicz Pruszkow. He has also chalked 144 assists.
Player | Goals | Assists |

Vidal on why he picked Suarez
The Chilean international considers the two strikers among the best of all time but feels Suarez has an edge because of his 'mischief'.
"Luis Suarez or Lewandowski? I don't know if there will ever be a striker better than them. Lewandowski has many qualities, but I prefer Luis Suarez… Suarez has that 'mischief' that South American players have, something that Robert does not have," Vidal said via Barca Universal.
Lewandowski obviously has more goals than Suarez but is also a more disciplined player. The Pole has gotten only 74 yellow cards and two red cards in 726 career games.
The Uruguayan's discipline issues are well documented. He has been accused of racism and has bitten opponents on the pitch, with a staggering 162 yellow cards and one red card in 752 career games.

FootballThus, Vidal could be right. Suarez has that 'mischief' and remains a polarising player in world football. The Chilean played with both strikers: Suarez at Barcelona and Lewandowski at Bayern Munich.
Messi equals Luis Suarez's record
At the same time, another legendary footballer continued his impeccable form for club and country by scoring a late free kick vs. Ecuador.
Sports Brief reported that Messi's goal saw him equal Suarez as the player with the most goals in South America's World Cup qualifiers.
