Fenerbache centre-back, Alexander Djiku has shared his excitement after leading the Black Stars for the first time as captain when Ghana defeated Liberia in an international friendly.

The 28-year-old marshalled the team to victory despite playing only the first half of the 3-1 win.

"Congrats to the team for this victory. It's a great honour for me to be captain," he posted on social media after the game.

He was replaced after the break by Stephan Ambrosius, who was making his Black Stars debut, after the break as the Black Stars produced a second-half masterclass to beat the Lone Stars.

New Olympique Lyonnais signing, Ernest Nuamah opened the scoring in the 51st minute before Mohammed Kudus doubled the advantage. Jordan Ayew extended the lead with nine minutes remaining.

Divine Roosevelt Teah pulled one back for the visitors in the final minute, as reported by Ghanasoccernet.

Black Stars beat Liberia in international friendly

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Mohammed Kudus and Ernest Nuamah were on target for the second game running as the Black Stars produced a second half masterclass to beat Liberia in Accra on Tuesday.

The four-time African champions, who secured AFCON qualification after beating the Central African Republic last Thursday, began early preparations with a friendly against the Lone Stars.

Following a barren first half, Nuamah broke the deadlock after expertly finishing off a brilliant pass from Stephan Ambrosius just five minutes into the second half.

Black Stars fan remembers Christian Atsu

A fan of the senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars, went to the Accra Sports stadium on Tuesday with a placard remembering former footballer, Christian Atsu.

The ex-Black Stars player tragically passed away in February following the devastating earthquake which hit the city of Hatay in Turkey.

Before his demise, Atsu made 65 appearances for the Black Stars and was the best player at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2015 when Ghana reached the final.
