West Ham United midfielder, Mohammed Kudus scored a sensational free kick to draw Ghana level in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic.

The visitors stunned the Black Stars after taking the lead through Louis Mafouta in the 25th minute, with Kudus called on to equalise two minutes before half-time.

Ghana struggled for the most part of the early exchanges but were seemingly awoken from their slumber after the CAR broke the qualifier's deadlock.

In a video shared on social media, Kudus curled the ball from the edge of the box, beating the Central African Republic goalkeeper.

Kudus was lively during the game and came close to giving Ghana the lead in the 14th minute.

The former Ajax star also saw his shot blocked in the 34th minute before Osman Bukari won a free kick attempt for the Black Stars in the 42nd minute.

Ghana ended up winning the tie 2-1 to qualify for AFCON 2023, per SuperSport, with Angola also securing a spot despite a goalless draw against Madagascar.

The Black Stars will also meet Liberia in a friendly on Tuesday in Accra, as reported by ghanasoccernet.com.

Issahaku missed CAR clash due to weather

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Leicester City winger, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku missing Ghana's AFCON qualifier against the CAR after reportedly failing to make it to Kumasi due to bad weather.

The 18-year-old was handed a late invite following an injury to KRC Genk forward, Joseph Paintsil. Issahaku arrived in Accra on Wednesday and was expected to fly to Kumasi on Thursday morning.

Stephen Appiah inspires Black Stars players

Sports Brief also reported on former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah urging Ghana to claim victory over the CAR in their final AFCON qualifier on Thursday in Kumasi.

The four-time African champions needed at least a draw to secure their place at next year's competition and faced a tough task from the team who claimed a point from them.
