30 players were announced as nominees for the prestigious award on September 6, with Super Falcons forward, Oshoala featuring in the women's category.

Davido took to his official page on X by posting pics of Oshoala and Osimhen as well as the Nigerian flag emoji, to celebrate both players' nominations for football's most prestigious individual prize.

Oshoala had a stellar season with Barcelona Femeni last campaign.

She played a major role in her club's triumph in both the Spanish Women's League and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Osimhen, meanwhile, powered Napoli to the Serie A title, ending a 33-year wait. He scored 26 goals in 32 appearances in the league to also clinch the Capocannoniere award.

The Super Eagles striker also scored five goals in Napoli's UEFA Champions League campaign, which saw them reach the quarter-finals for the first time in the club's history.

Messi, Haaland lead Ballon d'Or nominees

Sports Brief also reported on Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland being favourites for this year's men's Ballon d'Or, while Spain's World Cup star, Aitana Bonmati leads the female nominees.

Messi, who recently left Paris Saint-Germain for Inter Miami, is in with a chance of succeeding Karim Benzema for his eighth award after leading Argentina to FIFA World Cup glory last year.

Haaland may be his main rival for the coveted prize after scoring 52 goals in 53 games to help Manchester City win the UEFA Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup treble last term.
