Owen started the 1998-99 campaign with yet another hat-trick, scoring three goals in Liverpool’s 4-1 away win over Newcastle on August 30, 1998.

He added another hat-trick before reaching 19, scoring thrice in Liverpool’s 5-1 win over Nottingham Forest on October 24, 1998.
