Real Madrid’s quest for a marquee centre-forward looks set to lead the club to the doorsteps of the recently crowned European Player of the Year, Erling Haaland.

Los Blancos had set their sights on signing Kylian Mbappe for two consecutive summers but failed to seal a deal for the Paris Saint-Germain forward, prompting the Spanish giants to consider other options.

According to Football Espana, Haaland’s agent, Rafaela Pimienta, has left the door open for the 22-year-old to join Real Madrid next summer, stating that the ball is very much in the Norwegian’s court.

The Spanish giants have already shown interest in signing Haaland in the past before the Norwegian striker opted to join Manchester City instead, where he won the treble last season under Pep Guardiola.

Haaland, currently tied to City until 2027, has a release clause between €180-200m that goes live next summer, although it seems Real Madrid will be willing to pay any amount to buy the forward.

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has claimed that he might consider following superstar Lionel Messi's path to MLS in the latter stages of his professional career, Daily Mirror reports.

Haaland says he is instead focused on ensuring he is able to compete at the top level for as long as possible before considering a move to the MLS towards the twilight of his career.

Following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund, his stint at Eastlands with Manchester City has been extremely productive so far after scoring a staggering 52 goals on his way to a historic treble.
