Mason Greenwood could make a deadline day move to Italian giants Lazio, according to stunning new reports.

Maurizio Sarri’s side are looking for reinforcements, and Greenwood is seen as a possible great addition to the team’s ranks.

The 21-year old will definitely not continue with Manchester United after the Red Devils released a statement in August confirming their stance on him after “internal investigations”.

Initial reports of Greenwood heading to Lazio were broken by Gianluca Di Marzio, who affirmed that Lazio “would love” a player like the England international in their side.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano then confirmed the rumours by stating on social media that “Lazio had been offered Greenwood”.

Greenwood was promoted to Manchester United’s first team in the summer of 2019 and in his first season, racked up more than 2500 minutes of football, scoring 19 times.

He followed it up with another impressive season, but things took a turn for him midway through the 2021/22 season when he was accused of domestic abuse. He has not played for United since, despite his charges getting dropped in February this year.

As far as his Manchester United contract is concerned, he still has two years left to run, with the option to extend by a further 12 months, according to The Sun.

If United fail to find him a club, they may be forced to pay Greenwood off to a sum of £8million to settle his £75,000 a week contract.

Qatari club closes in on Coutinho

Sports Brief also reported on how a Qatari club is closing in on the signing of Phillipe Coutinho.

The Brazilian midfielder, who was met with a rapturous return following his disappointing spell at La Liga giants Barcelona, was quick to light up the stage with impressive goals and immense contributions to the Clarets under Steven Gerard.

Following the signings of Moussa Diaby and Nicolo Zaniolo at Aston Villa, the 31-year-old has found his time on the field of play drastically limited.

Recent reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano state a deal for a transfer for Coutinho to Qatari club Al Duhail could be wrapped up soon.
