Gareth Southgate has a major problem on his hands just days before England’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Ukraine.

Only 57 of the 220 players to start in the Premier League over the weekend qualify for England's national team. Only 28 out of those 57 English players have earned caps for the Three Lions before.

Sports Brief looks at the players with England caps who started a Premier League game in Matchweek 3 of the 2023-24 season.

Arsenal (4)

Four players with England caps started for Arsenal in their match against Fulham. They are goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, defender Ben White, midfielder Declan Rice, and winger Bukayo Saka.

Crystal Palace (4)

Crystal Palace also had four England internationals starting for them in Matchweek 3. They are goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, defender Tyrick Mitchell, defender Marc Guehi, and midfielder Eberechi Eze.

Chelsea (3)

Three players with England caps started for Chelsea in their match against Luton Town. They are defender Ben Chilwell, midfielder Conor Gallagher, and forward Raheem Sterling.

Everton (3)

Everton also had three England internationals starting for them in the match against Wolves. They are goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, defender James Tarkowski, and veteran full-back Ashley Young.

Brighton (2)

Two players with England caps started for Brighton in their 3-1 loss to West Ham United. They are veteran midfielder James Milner and forward Danny Welbeck.

Manchester City (2)

Manchester City also had two England internationals starting for them in their 2-1 win against Sheffield United. They are defender Kyle Walker and midfielder Jack Grealish.

Newcastle United (2)

Two players with England caps started for Newcastle United in their heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday. They are goalkeeper Nick Pope and defender Kieran Trippier.

West Ham United (2)

West Ham also had two England internationals starting for them in their match against Brighton. They are midfielder James Ward-Prowse and forward Jarrod Bowen.

Aston Villa (1)

Ollie Watkins is the only England international to start for Aston Villa in their 3-1 win over Burnley.

Bournemouth (1)

Forward Dominic Solanke is the only player with an England cap to start for Bournemouth in Matchweek 3 against Tottenham.

Liverpool (1)

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the only England international to start for Liverpool in their comeback win over Newcastle in Matchweek 3.

Manchester United (1)

Forward Marcus Rashford is the only player with an England cap to start for the Red Devils in their come-from-behind win against Nottingham Forest. He earned the penalty in the second half that completed the comeback for United, who trailed by two goals after just four minutes, per Yahoo Sports.

Tottenham (1)

Midfielder James Maddison is the only England international to start for Tottenham in their clash against Bournemouth. He scored the opening goal in their 2-0 win over the Cherries last Saturday, per The Guardian.

No England internationals in the starting XI

Six Premier League sides didn’t field an England international in their starting lineups in Matchweek 3. Those teams were Brentford, Burnley, Fulham, Nottingham Forest, Sheffield United, and Wolves.
