  • Bayern Munich reached an incredible milestone over the weekend
  • They now have 4001 points in the all-time Bundesliga table
  • Bayern won their 11th Bundesliga title last season

Bayern Munich have dominated the Bundesliga in the last few decades. Last season, they secured their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title on the final day of the season.

This weekend, they beat Augsburg 3-1 for their second straight win in the 2023/24 Bundesliga season. New signing Harry Kane bagged a brace.

With that win, Bayern have now accrued 4001 points in the Bundesliga. They are the first team in Germany to do so, with fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund 918 points behind. Bayern have played 1,978 matches.

In comparison, Manchester United have 2447 points, the most in the English league.

Against Augsburg, Bayern's new striker also made some history. By scoring a brace, the former Tottenham Hotspur striker became only the third FC Bayern player to score three goals in his first two Bundesliga games. Gustav Jung (1967) and Adolfo Valencia (1993) are the only other players to achieve this feat.

Kane will be looking to win his first title with Bayern.

Kane to emulate Ronaldo, Messi?

The England striker is looking to play at the top level for the next seven or eight years, just like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

"I know that when you turn 30 as a footballer, people somehow always have the end in the back of their minds. But I would like to play at the top level for another seven or eight years."

The former Tottenham striker scored 280 goals in 435 appearances with the English side - with 213 of those goals coming in the Premier League, per Transfermarkt.

Kane tipped for Lewandowski’s record

Earlier, Sports Brief reported the Kane netted his first Bayern goal in the Bavarians’ 4-0 victory against Werder Bremen in his first Bundesliga game, prompting high praise from Lothar Matthaus.

Bayern had struggled to replace Robert Lewandowski last season after the Poland forward joined Barcelona.

Matthaus - a club legend - has tipped Kane to replace Lewandowski with his goals this season, an area where the Bavarians were lacking last season.
