Spanish Football Federation president Luis Rubiales’ saga has taken an interesting twist after the Spaniard’s mother got involved.
Latest reports on Monday, August 28, indicate that Rubiales’ mom, Angeles Bejar, is on hunger strike in protest of the woes surrounding her son.
Bejar has reportedly locked herself at a church in Motril, Andalusia in Spain and intends to stay there “indefinitely, day and night”.
The embattled Spanish Football Federation president's saga ironically came at a time when Spain were enjoying the high of a World Cup victory.

What ensued was massive outrage from across the world as various stakeholders in football called for the resignation of the 43-year-old.
But on Friday, August 25, Rubiales categorically stated in an explosive press conference that he would not resign, as he insisted the kiss was consensual.
According to ESPN, Hermoso had a different account of events, as she insisted that she did not consent to Rubiales’ actions.
Rubiales’ mom now claims that there is an "inhumane and bloody hunt that they are doing with my son is something he does not deserve."
Meanwhile, Rubiales' cousin, Vanessa Ruiz also spoke out on the challenges facing the Federation boss, claiming he had been "judged before his time".
"They (media) don't stop harassing us. We had to leave our house. We want them to leave us alone and for Jenni to tell the truth. It's not fair," she said, as quoted on the BBC.

In the shocker of the day on Friday, Rubiales held a press conference that lasted more than 30 minutes, in which he maintained that he would not step down from his position in an extraordinary rant.
De Gea is just one of several Spanish footballers and ex-professionals who were critical of the Spain FA President over his refusal to step down.
