FootballLionel Messi: PSG Fans Storm Miami With Disrespectful Banner Insulting Argentine Star
- Fans of Paris Saint-Germain have seemingly reiterated their displeasure with Lionel Messi
- PSG ultras reportedly made their presence felt in Miami to send a clear message to the star
- The Argentine veteran's two-year stint in Paris fell significantly short of his lofty standards
Fans of Paris Saint-Germain reportedly descended upon Miami recently to express their discontent with the legendary Argentine forward.
Messi, who departed PSG after a two-year stint to join Inter Miami in MLS this summer, had a complex relationship with the club's fanbase, with things souring after the 2022 World Cup.
The 36-year-old, who inspired La Albiceleste to a third World Cup victory by defeating France in a post-match penalty shootout, was labelled a mercenary by some supporters, per The Athletic.
Messi appears to have put his challenging period with PSG in the rearview mirror by scoring goals and transforming the fortunes of the Florida-based franchise.
However, a segment of diehard Les Parisiens fans known as the ultras reportedly travelled to Miami to remind the illustrious Argentine of their feelings for him, All Football reports.
In photographs circulating on social media, fans said to be representing PSG's most fanatical supporters brought along a large banner expressing their dissatisfaction with Messi.
The banner read: "Messi: finally rid of the rude."
It is believed this is the same banner displayed by the ultras at their home ground of Parc des Princes, in protest of another recent departure and so-called mercenary: Neymar Junior.
