Fans of Paris Saint-Germain reportedly descended upon Miami recently to express their discontent with the legendary Argentine forward.

The 36-year-old, who inspired La Albiceleste to a third World Cup victory by defeating France in a post-match penalty shootout, was labelled a mercenary by some supporters, per The Athletic.

Messi appears to have put his challenging period with PSG in the rearview mirror by scoring goals and transforming the fortunes of the Florida-based franchise.

However, a segment of diehard Les Parisiens fans known as the ultras reportedly travelled to Miami to remind the illustrious Argentine of their feelings for him, All Football reports.

In photographs circulating on social media, fans said to be representing PSG's most fanatical supporters brought along a large banner expressing their dissatisfaction with Messi.

The banner read: "Messi: finally rid of the rude."

It is believed this is the same banner displayed by the ultras at their home ground of Parc des Princes, in protest of another recent departure and so-called mercenary: Neymar Junior.

Messi nets goal on MLS debut

Despite the acrimony from fans of PSG, Messi scored on his MLS debut for Inter Miami with a close-range strike in the 89th minute against the New York Red Bulls, Sports Brief reported.

Benjamin Cremaschi found the Argentine with a cross after the latter made a great run inside the box, in a fantastic team goal which started with a superb pass by Jordi Alba to his captain.

As Sports Brief reported, he scored a close-range strike in the 89th minute to seal the 2-0 win, with fans celebrating as the Herons claimed a victory.
