Mikel Arteta has sent Kai Havertz a message of support following his underwhelming performance against Fulham.

Havertz was part of the Arsenal squad that settled for a 2-2 draw against a 10-man Fulham side on Saturday, August 26.

However, the German ace failed to leave a mark during the Premier League tie, as his struggles with the north Londoners continued.

Havertz has largely operated in the position vacated by Granit Xhaka so far this season but has often failed to impress, going by the demands of the role.

After subdued performances against Nottingham Foresta and Crystal Palace, the ex-Chelsea ace was unable to redeem himself against Fulham.

While he had a passing accuracy of 87% during the match, Sportbible reports that he only managed to complete 20 passes and one shot during his time on the pitch.

Arteta sends Havertz message

Arteta has appeared to downplay any concerns surrounding Havertz's slow start to life at the Emirates Stadium.

Speaking after the Fulham clash, the Arsenal boss backed his summer signing to overcome the difficult start to his career with the north Londoners and win over the fans.

"Yes, I think so, and I think he’s done already really good things," Arteta said when asked if he believes Havterz can disapprove his doubters.

"Today it was tough for him in certain moments. He got in great areas again today and the ball didn’t arrive and a lot of situations he should’ve scored a lot of goals already this season and that is the thing that is missing," eh added via Metro UK.
