As noted by The South African, Polokwane City have been accused of exploiting technical staff members and players.

According to the publication, some players have alleged that they received contracts with no monetary figures on them, while some staff have alleged that they are working on a verbal contract basis.

Sunday World has reported that the South African Football Players Union (SAFPU) is probing the allegations.

SAFPU confirmed they had received several complaints from players and technical staff members.

“Our secretary general Nhlanhla Shabalala is handling this matter. We have requested a meeting with Polokwane City and we want to address the issue with them,” SAFPU president Thulaganyo Gaoshubelwe said.

They also cautioned players against signing contracts with no monetary details on it.

Former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mpho Makola explained that he was offered a contract with no monetary figures and was willing to meet with the chairman to discuss it, but it never happened.

“I was given the contract as per the promise, but the contract had no figures in it. I said I wouldn’t sign when I don’t know how much I will be earning,” he said.

Polokwane aren't the only team in trouble when it comes to player contracts. Royal AM have also found themselves in hot water recently.

Royal AM have found themselves in hot water with football’s international governing body.

FIFA have clamped down on Shauwn Mkhize’s side, and the punishments could worsen in the coming days, Sports Brief reported.

FIFA found Royal AM guilty of unfairly dismissing former attacker, Samir Nurkovic. The Thwihli Thwahla signed the former Kaizer Chiefs striker on a free transfer, but he never made his professional debut for the side.
