FootballJude Bellingham: Real Madrid Youngster Closing In on Eden Hazard’s La Liga Record
- Jude Bellingham has made a dream start to life in La Liga with his new club Real Madrid
- He has scored three league goals and needs one in the next game to bypass Eden Hazard
- The Belgian spent four years with Los Blancos but his career failed to take off due to injury
England wonder kid, Jude Bellingham, has only played two games for Real Madrid and is already closing in on Eden Hazard's record.
The Belgian flopped at Los Blancos following a €115 million move from Chelsea. He left this summer after four disappointing seasons.
Hazard was phenomenal at Chelsea and was - at one point - one of the best players in the world. However, things changed when he got to Real Madrid with injuries being the main reason he didn't really kick on at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Bellingham scored a brace against Almeria on Saturday evening to extend his tally to three goals in two games. The Englishman also scored in Madrid's opening game against Athletic Bilbao, per Eurosport.
In four seasons with the Spanish giants, Hazard made just 76 appearances and scored seven goals, with four of those coming in La Liga, per Transfermarkt.
If Bellingham scores in Real Madrid's next match against Celta Vigo, he will match Hazard's tally or even surpass it. This shows how the Belgian struggled to get going, especially considering the fortune paid to acquire his services.
Real Madrid fans adore Bellingham
Meanwhile, Real Madrid fans have developed a strong fondness for Bellingham following his arrival at team training via a taxi.
The midfielder, who made the switch from Borussia Dortmund during the current window, has captured the hearts of the fans.
The 20-year-old has experienced a substantial wage boost upon his arrival in the Spanish capital, having inked a contract valued at £12mil annually.

FootballDortmund clear the air with Bellingham
Sports Brief also reported on Borussia Dortmund sporting director, Sebastian Kehl stating he does not think Bellingham was being critical of Dortmund with his comments about the high standards at Real Madrid.
The Englishman made 132 appearances for the Bundesliga side, scoring 24 goals and assisting in a further 25, but Kehl said the statement was likely not meant as a dig at Bellingham's former team or his time with them.
