Arsenal showed some love to Jurrien Timber on Monday night.

Timber picked up the knee injury on his Gunners debut and will be out for the foreseeable future.

Timber suffers ACL injury

He needed surgery after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his right knee in the game against Nottingham Forest, per Yahoo Sports.

The Dutch star is expected to be out for at least seven to nine months, meaning he may not feature again before the Premier League season ends in May.

It was a huge blow for the Gunners, who paid Ajax €40 million (£34.3m) plus €5m in add-ons to land Timber’s services last month.

Arsenal dedicate win to Timber

Arsenal didn’t forget about Timber as they faced Palace.

Odegaard held Timber’s shirt as Arsenal’s starting XI posed for a photograph together before their match against Palace.

Odegaard also posted on Instagram stories a photo of the Gunners celebrating their narrow win over Palace.

He again held Timber’s jersey during the celebration, sending a clear message to the Dutch player and their fans that he was part of that victory.

Odegaard leads Arsenal to victory

Odegaard starred for the Gunners in the victory, scoring the lone goal in the 53rd minute via a penalty, per NBC Sports.

Arsenal earned the spot kick after Sam Johnstone fouled Eddie Nketiah inside the box.

Odegaard sent the Crystal Palace goalkeeper the wrong way with his penalty to hand Arsenal a 1-0 lead.

Ten-man Arsenal hold on

The win didn’t come easy, though, for the Gunners, as they played the majority of the second half with just 10 men.

Sports Brief reported that Takehiro Tomiyasu was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in a span of just seven minutes in the second half.

Arsenal held on for the victory to remain perfect to start the new Premier League season.
