  • Mason Mount left Chelsea in a £60m move to join rivals Manchester United
  • The move breed bad blood between the player, club and fans that could last forever
  • Mount is struggling to settle in at Old Trafford, and United have one point from two games

The bad blood between Mason Mount and Chelsea fans will not go away anytime soon after Blues fans made their displeasure felt towards the player with no context ahead of the game against West Ham.

Mount broke through the Chelsea academy system and was given his senior team debut by Frank Lampard in 2019. He was pivotal to the team's success until his departure this summer.

Contract disputes with the club led to his departure, and as reported by The Athletic, he joined rivals Manchester United for a deal worth £60m, including add-ons to end his 18 years association with the club.

The move away was not glorious, as evident in Chelsea's official statement confirming it, which did not mention his destination for one of their academy's best players over the years.

Chelsea fans chant against Mount

The player was given Cristiano Ronaldo's number 7 at Old Trafford but is struggling heavily to settle in at the club, which has drawn trolls and insults from fans on social media.

The match-going fans took it to another level with insulting chants outside of the London Stadium ahead of their Premier League game against West Ham United, as seen in a video recirculated on X by London's First.

Mount, born in Portsmouth, and his family support Manchester United, and had his decision to move to the northwest influenced by his father, Tony Mount.

The father's enthusiasm in the Old Trafford dressing room and calling the Red Devils home was one of the notable events that angered the Blues faithful.

Chelsea pride in Reece James

Sports Brief reported that Chelsea took pride in Reece James after the defender responded with a no to a fan teasing a move to Arsenal for him.

The club’s Twitter was quick to brand him ‘One of our own’, aiming a dig at Arsenal and at Mason Mount, an academy star joining a rival club, Manchester United.
