  • Manchester City defeated Sevilla on penalties to win the Super Cup

Morocco forward, Youssef En-Nesyri reproduced his header against Portugal during the World Cup in the European Super Cup to open the scoring for Sevilla.

The Europa League winners took an early lead against European champions Manchester City after the Moroccan rose high to head home from a Marcus Acuna cross.

Sevilla went into the break with the advantage, but City responded in the second half through youngster Cole Palmer to force the game into penalties.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the Sevilla striker is seen rising above Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol to break the game's deadlock.

Manchester City went on to win the game after Nemanja Gudelj missed Sevilla's fifth spot-kick.

Meanwhile, Sevilla will participate in this season's UEFA Champions League after winning the Europa League last season, following victory over Jose Mourinho's AS Roma.

Goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou, is reportedly on his way out of the team and could join Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal before the close of the transfer window, as reported by Gulf Today.

Man City beat Sevilla

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Manchester City won the UEFA Super Cup for the first time on Wednesday but needed penalties to beat Sevilla after a 1-1 draw in Athens.

Youssef En-Nesyri's towering first-half header gave the Spaniards the lead.

European champions City were far from their slick best but hit back to force the game to penalties through Cole Palmer's header.

Barcelona submit bid for Cancelo

La Liga champions, Barcelona, could be on the verge of finally resolving their prolonged right-back situation.

The team has reportedly identified several options to solve the problem after coach, Xavi Hernandez, expressed his dissatisfaction with the current options of Julian Araujo - who has been loaned to Las Palmas, and Sergino Dest - who could be shown the door.

Xavi appeared keen on getting the signing of Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo over the line, having missed out on the Portuguese defender in the winter transfer window.
