  • Kepa Arrizabalaga says he would like to stay at Real Madrid after his loan expires
  • The Spanish goalkeeper joined Real Madrid on a one-year loan from Chelsea this summer
  • Kepa joined English Premier League giants Chelsea in 2018 for around £72 million

Kepa Arrizabalaga is not eager to return to Chelsea when his loan stint with Real Madrid expires at the end of the 2023/24 football season.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper joined Los Blancos on a season-long loan after Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suffered a torn ACL, forcing the club to search for a new goalie.

According to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Kepa, during his unveiling as a Real Madrid player on Tuesday, pleaded for Los Blancos to sign him permanently after his loan spell expires.

Chelsea signed Kepa back in 2018 for around £72 million, but the 28-year-old goalkeeper has been inconsistent during his time at Stamford Bridge.

According to Chelsea Chronicle, the Blues has been trying to sell the Spanish goalkeeper for ages now, but no side has been able to afford him and his £190,000-a-week wages.

Why Kepa left Chelsea

Meanwhile, it appears Arrizabalaga was understood to be unhappy at how the London club welcomed new signing Robert Sanchez following the goalkeeper signing from Brighton, Tribal Football reports.

The 28-year-old Spaniard felt that Sanchez is the man who the club's coaching staff wanted as their first-choice keeper this season, as the Blues goalkeeper coach was previously at Brighton.

Kepa believes a year on loan will give him a chance to resurrect his career in Spain.

Real Madrid sign Kepa Arrizabalaga

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid have swiftly replaced Thibaut Courtois, who suffered an ACL injury in training last weekend, by signing Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga.

With Courtois out for most of the 2023/24 season, the Spanish side have signed the Spanish keeper on a season-long loan.

The Chelsea goalkeeper was also a target for Bayern Munich, but he chose Madrid. He is expected to take over as the number one choice due to his experience at the highest level.
