- Mamelodi Sundowns star striker Shalulile scored a goal reminiscent of Norway's Erling Haaland
- Shalulile also scored the opening goal of the new DStv Premiership season from the penalty spot
You can’t keep Peter Shalulile out of the action for too long.
The Namibian marksman has developed a reputation for being a lethal striker and is continuing to live up to that hype in the new season.
After a slow start to the 2023/24 season, Shalulile proved just why he’s such a feared opponent with a stunning goal against Lamontville Golden Arrows.
The Mamelodi Sundowns striker took less than 17 minutes to open the scoring for his side as he pounced on a ball in the box and fired it into the back of the next.
The goal, which closely resembled a bicycle kick, was Shalulile’s second of the season in three starts. The sublime strike was, in many ways, something that Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, would score.
He also scored the first goal of the season when he converted a penalty in the Brazilians’ opening game against Sekhukhune United. He failed to score against Kaizer Chiefs in his second start, but was involved in the Lucas Costa's opening goal.
Shalulile scores Sundowns first goal
Mamelodi Sundowns are off the mark in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season.
It took the Brazilians just 11 minutes to get on the scoresheet through Peter Shalulile, as they kicked off their title defence against Sekhukhune United.
Having won six titles in a row already, Sundowns were taking no prisoners as they chased a seventh consecutive league title, Sports Brief reported.
