- Al-Nassr and other Saudi Pro League clubs have signed top players from European clubs this summer
After getting snubbed by Real Madrid, Manchester United legend, David De Gea is reportedly set to be reunited with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.
De Gea left the Red Devils earlier this summer after his contract expired after 12 years. He has been linked with Bayern Munich, and a move to the Middle East is also gathering pace.
The 32-year-old has been without a club since he left the Red Devils, but he was mentioned as a possible replacement for Real Madrid Thibaut Courtois, who suffered a season-ending ACL injury last week.
Madrid opted to sign Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga on a season-long loan. At 32, the Spaniard is still young for a goalkeeper and brings bags of experience after playing in the Premier League.
De Gea to Saudi Arabia?
According to Marca, De Gea could end up at Al-Nassr and play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, his old teammate. The transfer window for Saudi Pro League sides is open until September 20, meaning De Gea has some time to work on a deal.
The former Atletico Madrid keeper could also play alongside Alex Telles, who he played with in England. Luis Castro's side have also signed Sadio Mane and Marcelo Brozovic this summer, per Transfermarkt.
Al-Nassr season began on a positive note as they beat Al-Hilal 2-1 to win the Arab Club Champions Cup. Ronaldo scored both goals.
Madrid fans reject De Gea
Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Real Madrid suffered a huge blow on the eve of the new La Liga season, with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during training on Thursday.
