- Neymar Junior is reportedly close to joining Al-Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain
- The Brazilian spent six seasons in France after moving from Barcelona in 2017
- The 31-year-old is set to undergo his medical before signing in a two-year deal
The Neymar Junior era at Paris Saint-Germain is seemingly coming to an end. The Brazilian superstar is reportedly closing in on a groundbreaking move to Saudi Pro League side, Al-Hilal.
PSG opened their Ligue 1 season this past weekend against Lorient and Neymar was nowhere to be seen, after informing the club earlier this week of his desire to leave this summer.
According to the Athletic's David Ornstein, the 31-year-old is undergoing a medical ahead of his transfer to the Saudi Pro League side.
The former Barcelona man is set to sign a two-year contract with the fee for the transfer reportedly €90 million.
Neymar was reportedly not considered a key player for PSG under new manager, Luis Enrique. The club are looking to build a younger and hungrier team under the Spaniard.
Why is Neymar leaving PSG?
It has been a turbulent six years for Neymar at PSG following his record-breaking move from Barcelona in 2017. He remains the most expensive footballer ever, a title he will hold for a while.
He failed to live up to expectations especially considering the fee the Parisians paid for his services. He struggled with injuries throughout his time in France and missed over 100 games.
The club's fans protested at Neymar's house a few months ago, reportedly asking him to leave the club. The incident could have prompted him to make a decision to leave France this summer.
The Saudi Pro League have also signed superstars like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema for monstrous wages - something that would attract any footballer, per Sky Sports.

FootballPSG has been in a perpetual state of turmoil this summer. Lionel Messi left, and Kylian Mbappe and the club were involved in a high-profile dispute which they only recently resolved.
Comparing Ronaldo’s wages to Neymar’s
Sports Brief earlier compared Neymar's wages to Ronaldo's for Al-Nassr. The Brazilian star will reportedly make €160 million in the two-year deal but this is still low compared to the Portuguese veteran.
Ronaldo was tempted to the Saudi Pro League after officially severing connections with Manchester United ahead of the 2022 World Cup, thanks in no small part to an extraordinary offer of £177.1mil a year.
