The transfer saga of the summer has finally ended.
Chelsea have landed their man, reaching an agreement with Brighton to sign midfielder, Moises Caicedo.
The Blues have agreed a deal worth a British record fee of £115 million.
Blues break transfer record again
The blockbuster signing comes after Liverpool agreed a £111 million deal for the Ecuadorian star on Friday, per The Guardian.
But the 21-year-old’s preference is to play for Chelsea, and the Blues have finally succeeded with their offer after having several bids rejected by the Seagulls this summer.
The fee means Mauricio Pochettino’s side will break the British record twice this year.
They smashed the record last January after signing Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez from Benfica for £107 million.
Caicedo, who was left out of Brighton's squad for their Premier League season opener against Luton Town, is still to have a medical for Chelsea.
Breakdown of Chelsea's payments
It is understood that the Blues’ initial fee for Caicedo is £100 million. Half of the additional payments are reportedly easily achievable, with Brighton also negotiating a sell-on clause in the deal, per the BBC.
Roberto di Zerbi’s side had set a transfer fee of over £100 million for Caicedo this summer and said they felt no team would meet their asking price.
The Blues are believed to have bid £80 million previously for Caicedo before Liverpool sent that figure skyrocketing with their late monster offer.
It is a terrific piece of business for Brighton, who shelled out £4 million in February 2021 to sign Caicedo from Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle.

FootballHe will be the Blues’ eighth signing of the summer, following Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Axel Disasi, Angelo Gabriel, Lesley Ugochukwu, Diego Moreira, and Robert Sanchez.
Nkunku injury blow for Chelsea
Chelsea were desperate to sign Caicedo after Christopher Nkunku was ruled out for an extended period because of a knee injury.
Sports Brief reported that he suffered the injury during the Blues’ preseason match against Borussia Dortmund in the United States.
The Frenchman recently underwent surgery on his knee and is facing months on the sidelines.
