Mohammed Kudus continued from where he left off last season after scoring his first goal of the campaign in Ajax's big win over Heracles Almelo in the 2023/24 Dutch Eredivisie opener.

The Brighton and Hove Albion target gave his side the lead for the first time in the match with 15 minutes remaining, as Ajax finished strongly to earn a 4-1 victory at the Johan Cryuff Arena.

Before the game, there were doubts if the Ghana international is ready for the season after reports of interests from several top clubs.

However, the 23-year-old produced an outstanding performance to get his season off and running.

The highlight of the game was when Kudus left Heracles midfielder, Anas Ouahim, embarrassed with a cheeky nutmeg which forced the player to impede him. The scene has since gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, in a dramatic end to the first half, Heracles took the lead through Mario Engels but Ajax responded just before the referee's whistle through Jakov Medic.

Kudus then gave Ajax the lead with a clever striker, after beating his marker with a lovely chest controlling before firing home.

New Ajax captain Steven Bergwijn scored twice in the final ten minutes as the Dutch giants recorded an impressive home win, as reported by nltimes.com.

Kudus leaves young fan speechless

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Mohammed Kudus might be on his way out of Ajax but his relationship with fans of the club remains strong following his outstanding performances for the Dutch giants.

In recent weeks, the 23-year-old has dominated the headlines after it emerged that Brighton have agreed a deal to sign the talented midfielder.

Despite reports of him leaving in the summer transfer window, the Ghana international was present on Opening Day as Ajax players were presented to the fans ahead of the start of the new season.

Brighton set to sign Kudus

Brighton and Hove Albion have reached an agreement to sign Ghanaian attacking midfielder, Mohammed Kudus in the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old is closing in on a dream move to the English Premier League from Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam.

Kudus is expected to sign a deal worth around €40million, which will make him Brighton's record signing, surpassing the amount paid for Joao Pedro.
