  • Harry Kane completed his transfer to Bayern Munich in time to make his debut
  • He came off the bench in the second half of a 3-0 loss to RB Leipzig in the German Super Cup final
  • The former Tottenham striker had a moment of culture shock during the match

Harry Kane was culture-shocked after coming off the bench to make his Bayern Munich debut against RB Leipzig yesterday.

Kane completed his £86m move from Tottenham Hotspur to the Bundesliga champions in time to be named in the squad for the German Super Cup final.

It presented an opportunity to win his first career trophy, but Leipzig did a poetic thing, beat Bayern 3-0 thanks to a Dani Olmo hat-trick to deny the league winners their first of the season.

Harry Kane's culture shock

The English striker is England's captain and was club skipper before leaving Spurs and was replaced by his partner in attack, Heung-min Son, as reported by The Athletic.

Leipzig were awarded a penalty shortly after Kane came on, and while his teammates were confronting the referee, he joined in as well but immediately realised he doesn't speak the language and stood watching, as spotted by Spurs Journo.

The complaints fell on deaf ears and Dani Olmo converted the penalty to make it 3-0.

Tuchel apologises to Kane

The whole football world had a double-edged sword in wait for Kane's debut; if he had won, they'd go after his detractors; if he had lost, which he did, the trophyless banter continued.

As reported by Metro UK, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel knew this and was sorry for the striker as the team's lacklustre performance denied him a winning chance.

“I’m just sorry for Harry Kane, he probably thinks we haven’t trained for four weeks. Our performance today had nothing to do with what we set out to do. It’s a very bitter evening, I’m sorry,” he said.

The Bavarians have won the last 11 league titles, including a final day drama last season, and it is on Tuchel to guide the team to maintain that legacy at least.

Reactions to Kane's transfer

Sports Brief previously reported on how fans reacted to Harry Kane sealing a transfer to Bayern Munich after the news broke that an agreement was in place with Spurs.

At 30 and with enviable goal records, he can claim to be one of the best strikers in the world but is yet to win a trophy in his career, but the German champions give him a higher chance of doing that.
