Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson was involved in a noteworthy moment on the touchline during the Premier League game against Sheffield United on Saturday, August 12.

Hodgson, who is currently the oldest manager in the Premier League, was an irate figure when the ball rolled in the technical area , at Bramall Lane, and Sheffield United’s Max Lowe appeared to shove the veteran tactician.

At the time, Sheffield United were trailing 1-0 and were desperately searching for an equalizer, hence the urgency exhibited by Lowe.

Hodgson was perhaps guilty of attempting to slow the game down, but Lowe was having none of it and he forcefully grabbed the ball to take the throw in.

The Palace manager did not appreciate getting shoved, and he attempted to shove back Lowe, leading to a minor scuffle on the touchline as Ghana international Jordan Ayew also got involved.

Here is a video of the incident.

After the game, a much calmer Hodgson spoke on the incident where he said, per TalkSport:

"I don't think he meant to catch me, chasing the ball to the side. We both smiled about it. My first reaction of course when I received the blow was complain. But I think it was a pure accident, it was nothing."

Palace ended up claiming the crucial 1-0 win thanks to a close range strike by Odsonne Edouard after some good work from Ayew.

Palace goalie criticizes club

Sports Brief also reported on a bizarre incident that saw Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guaita call out the club after failing to make the starting XI.

Guaita was a notable absentee from Palace’s squad as veteran manager Roy Hodgson decided to snub the Spaniard amid reports he refused to play in pre-season.

The 36-year old, who signed a one year contract extension in January, is keen on a return to Spain to join Getafe.
