The Bafana Bafana star, who plays for Minnesota United, has been in impressive goal-scoring form, and is attracting a lot of attention back home.

South Africans have been keeping a close eye on the local lad as he scores goal after goal in America, and Hlongwane is thankful for the support.

The Minnesota marksman recently shared a video paying tribute to fans back home, thanking them for their continued support. His video even attracted a teammate's attention, who tried to repeat what he said in Zulu.

Hlongwane’s impressive season

The South African is in a rich vein of form for the American side, proving that he can bang in goals with the best of them.

As noted by Transfermarkt, he has bagged 15 goals in just 28 appearances this season for the side. He has also had an impressive run in the Leagues Cup, already scoring seven goals in the tournament.

Far Post noted that Hlongwane is now in competition with Lionel Messi for the MLS Leagues Cup Golden Boot.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane can’t stop scoring for Minnesota United.

The South African striker notched his seventh goal in this year’s Leagues Cup, scoring in the 32nd minute of their match against Toluca on Tuesday.

He is now tied with Lionel Messi atop the tournament’s scoring charts, Sports Brief reported.

Hlongwane hits Ronaldo’s Siuuu celebration

Bongokuhle Hlongwane can't stop scoring at the moment.

The former Maritzburg United attacker is in rich scoring form for Minnesota United, having scored four goals in his last two games for the team, Sports Brief reported.

The South African’s strikes grabbed attention, as did his celebration afterwards. After netting a brace, the former Team of Choice attacker broke out Cristiano Ronaldo’s 'Siuuu' celebration.
