Romelu Lukaku is among three senior Chelsea stars who have missed out on shirt numbers at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.
The Blues announced the squad numbers for the season on Tuesday, August 8, with Mykhailo Mudryk and Enzo Fernandez among the players who got new numbers.
According to The Sun, the duo saw their numbers swapped while new signings such as Nicolas Jackson and Robert Sanchez have been handed their new numbers.
Mudryk settled for the No.10 shirt vacated by Christian Pulisic, with Fernandez opting for the No.8 kit initially worn by Mateo Kovacic.
The heavily revitalised list of who will be wearing what number for the upcoming season was occasioned by a mass exodus of top players witnessed at Stamford Bridge.
3 Chelsea stars miss out on shirt number
It has now emerged that the trio of Lukaku, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Hakim Ziyech have not been given a shirt number.
According to Metro UK, the No.20 shirt previously worn by Hudson-Odoi has now been taken by new signing Andrey Santos.
Elsewhere, the 'cursed' No.9 worn by Lukaku has been avoided by Chelsea stars, with Ziyech's No.22 left vacant.
The development comes at a time the three are facing uncertain futures with the Blues.
Hojlund yet to get shirt number
