Lia and Caitlin were an item, as evidenced by their regular social media posts, including romantic getaways and loving embraces. Unfortunately, Swiss midfielder and fellow World Cup participant Lia Walti, an Australian vital forward from Arsenal FC, have lately broken up. Instagram posts between the two players have been erased, and they no longer follow each other.

Caitlin Foord and Sam Kerr

Australian captain Kerr missed last week's opening match against Ireland after suffering a calf injury in training. She was absent from the Matildas’ encounter with Nigeria in the World Cup tournament in August 2023.

On Tuesday, though, Arsenal forward Foord assured viewers of the World Cup on Optus Sport that Kerr would return. Foord attempted to calm nerves by claiming the team had been in camp together since early June, so they were used to playing with or without their star scorer Kerr.

Thankfully, Ker was on Foord's side when he attacked Denmark. Australia was playing in front of another sold-out crowd when coach Tony Gustavsson gave Kerr her maiden Women's World Cup minutes with just over 10 minutes remaining and his team-leading 2-0. After being named the game's most valuable player, Foord made this statement after the encounter with Denmark.

“For teams looking ahead, it’s pretty scary to know she is now back in the team, and she’s going to be a part of it with us,”
"It was a massive boost for us to have her back, not only for us but for her as well,” Foord said.
