  • Neymar wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain
  • The Brazilian has reportedly informed the club of his desire to leave this summer
  • Neymar signed for PSG in 2017 from Barcelona for a world-record fee

Neymar Jr. has reportedly informed Paris Saint-Germain of his desire to leave the club. The Brazilian has two years left on the current contract he signed in 2021.

PSG are currently in a standoff with Kylian Mbappe, who refused to sign a new deal. It is possible they will lose the two superstars this summer.

According to L'Equipe, via GFFN, the 31-year-old informed the club's management that he wants to leave the club this summer. His decision has likely been influenced by the protest by PSG ultras in front of his house in May this year. The fans asked Neymar to leave the club.

The former Barcelona man feels the club does not protect its players enough. Lionel Messi was also a target, with PSG fans asking him to leave after they jeered him during matches. The World Cup winner ended up leaving the club.

Neymar just returned to action after months of recovery from an ankle injury which was sustained in March. He has been linked with a return to Barcelona this summer.

Neymar at PSG

The Brazilian remains the most expensive footballer ever after PSG signed him in 2017 from Barcelona for a world record €222 million. Since then, he has played 173 games, scored 118 goals, and provided 77 assists, per Transfermarkt.

However, he has missed many games because of persistent injury problems. He was having a great 2022/23 season before he was ruled out for the season in March. Despite the injury, he finished with 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 games.

Losing Mbappe and Neymar in the same window would be devastating for PSG in their quest to win the coveted Champions League title.

Neymar meets Speed

Sports Brief earlier reported on IShowSpeed finally meeting PSG star Neymar in Japan.

The 18-year-old social media superstar was ecstatic after seeing Neymar. They took photos, sang, and danced together, and the Brazilian star seemed entertained.

Speed met his idol Ronaldo last month after months of trying to meet the Al-Nassr superstar.
