  • Neymar Junior has been linked with a return to former club Barcelona
  • The club's chief Joan Laporta appears to fancy a return for the forward
  • Barcelona will be thin in attack once Ousmane Dembele makes his exit

Barcelona's quest to fill the void in their attacking line have seen them linked to a few big names - including Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Junior.

The looming departure of Ousmane Dembele will leave the Catalans thin up-front. Having recently announced the signing of Brazilian youngster, Vitor Roque, as of 2024, the spotlight appears to be aimed at one of his compatriots.

Despite reports from Spanish journalist, Gerard Romero, stating a move for Neymar Junior appears to be sanctioned by club president, Joan Laporta, a return to Camp Nou still hinges on a few factors including approval from a key factor in the dressing room.

Neymar’s transfer impeded by ex-player

Reports from Barcelona Universal have stated Barcelona could make a loan offer to Paris Saint-Germain for Neymar with an option of purchase included in the clause.

However, it appears not everyone in the club’s hierarchy fancies a move for the forward. Head coach, Xavi, is reportedly not eager for his former teammate's return.

Despite the fact that both parties share a cordial relationship, it is reported the coach's scepticism is born from the series of injuries the 31-year-old has suffered recently.

Since Neymar’s record-breaking move to the Parisians in 2017, he has missed over 101 games on the sidelines.

On his good day, however, the Brazilian is nothing short of extraordinary and he recently returned with a brace and an assist after a long injury layoff that kept him out of action since February.

Neymar helped PSG sign Messi

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Neymar being hailed as PSG's masterstroke despite the recent criticism the Brazilian has faced from the club's fans and board.

He made headlines when he joined from Barcelona for a world-record fee of €222mil in 2017 but his move to Paris did not yield the expected results for the Parisians.

Famous Brazilian agent, Andre Cury, has now claimed Neymar was the reason Argentine icon, Lionel Messi and France superstar, Kylian Mbappe joined the team.
