Lionel Messi can’t stop scoring right now.
The Argentine superstar gave Inter Miami an early lead in their Leagues Cup match against FC Dallas, scoring with a long-range strike in the sixth minute.
New signing Jordi Alba found Messi, who was wide open just outside the box.
The seven-time Ballon d’Or winner hit Alba’s pass with a first-time shot, firing the long-range attempt past the FC Dallas goalkeeper to give Inter Miami a 1-0 advantage.
Messi is on fire
He has now scored in each of his first four matches for Inter Miami, dating back to his debut against Cruz Azul on July 21.
Fans in Dallas went into a frenzy when Messi scored his first-ever away goal in the United States at Toyota Stadium.
The Argentine star's goal was initially disallowed, but made official later after a review, per USA Today.
Inter Miami’s Josef Martinez was in an offside position when Messi attempted his long-range strike.
Officials deemed Martinez to have stayed out of the goalie’s line of vision as Messi hit his first-time shot. They ruled that he did not make a play on the ball as it went right by him for the goal.
Messi mania hits Dallas
Sports Brief also reported on fans swarming Toyota Stadium ahead of Messi's arrival to catch a glimpse of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner.
This was the first opportunity for football fans to catch Messi in action outside of Florida as his first three matches in the Leagues Cup came at DRV PNK Stadium in Miami.
Messi was unstoppable for Inter Miami during that three-game period, scoring a total of five goals in their Leagues Cup matches against Cruz Azul, Atlanta United, and Orlando City SC.
