Real Madrid has strongly denied club president Florentino Perez is set to resign from his position at the club following rumours circulating in the Spanish media.
Perez first assumed the Real Madrid presidency in 2000 and was re-elected in 2004, only to withdraw from the position two years later due to concerns about his focus on business.
The 76-year-old would return to the Spanish giants unopposed in the summer of 2009 and has held that position ever since.
According to Goal, Real Madrid released a statement in response to the rumours, claiming that the stories circulating about Perez were false and are due to certain interests that have nothing to do with reality.
With Perez in charge, Madrid has won six La Liga championships and six Champions Leagues, continuing to rank among the best in Europe thanks to Perez's hefty expenditure.
