The injury bug has bitten Arsenal once again.

Gabriel Jesus will miss the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season after suffering a knee injury.

He underwent a minor surgical procedure to address the issue, which will sideline him for several weeks.

The 26-year-old striker missed the Gunners’ 1-1 draw with Ligue 1 side Monaco in the Emirates Cup pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

The Brazilian star will be unavailable for both the Community Shield and Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest on August 12, per CBS Sports.

Jesus' knee issue appears again

It was a huge blow for Jesus, who missed three months of last season because of a knee issue as well.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed Jesus’ operation after Arsenal's penalty shootout win at the Emirates Stadium, saying:

"Unfortunately, he had a little procedure this morning. He's had some discomfort in his knee that caused him some issues, so they had to go in and resolve it. It's not something major but he's going to be out for a few weeks, I think.”

Arteta added that it was a big blow for the team as Jesus was “back to his best” during Arsenal’s pre-season campaign. He was in good condition in Arsenal’s 5-3 win over Barcelona, but unfortunately, they lost him again.

Arteta then relayed some worrying news about Jesus’ latest operation, saying:

"It's something related to the previous injury he had and the surgery. He had some irritation in the knee, and we had to get it resolved."

Christopher Nkunku suffers knee injury

Sports Brief recently reported on Christopher Nkunku suffering a knee injury as well in Chelsea’s preseason friendly against Borussia Dortmund.

The French star picked up the injury in the ninth injury from a Mats Hummels challenge.

He failed to reach the half-time break as he was substituted in the 22nd minute.
