FootballManchester City Defender Joao Cancelo Agrees Personal Terms With Barcelona
- Joao Cancelo could be on his way to La Liga champions Barcelona this summer
- The Manchester City defender has agreed personal terms with the Catalan giants
- Cancelo was shipped out on loan last season after falling out with Pep Guardiola
Barcelona could finally get their wish to sign Joao Cancelo after the Manchester City defender agreed to personal terms with the Catalan club ahead of a summer transfer.
The Catalans missed out on the Portugal defender in January after he joined Bayern Munich on loan, despite the Spanish giants being favourites to land him mid-season.
According to Goal, Barcelona are looking to use some of the funds generated from Ousmane Dembele’s impending transfer to Paris Saint-Germain to help fund their move for Cancelo.
The former Benfica and Juventus defender has appeared in pre-season for Manchester City, but his future at the Etihad Stadium remains uncertain.
Barcelona manager Xavi is a big admirer of Cancelo and wants him at the club next season and the defender is also keen to make the move to Camp Nou after falling out with Pep Guardiola last season.
Arsenal plan late Cancelo swoop
Meanwhile, Arsenal may make a very late move to sign the £60m-rated Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo if the Portugal star is still available this summer, The Boot Room reports.
The Gunners have already spent around £200m this summer after acquiring West Ham’s Declan Rice for a British-record fee, and Juriel Timber from Ajax, but Mikel Arteta still wants more signings.
Arsenal are hoping to hijack the deal for Cancelo before he completes his switch to Barcelona who are frontrunners to sign the former Inter Milan and Juventus defender.
Bayern refuse to retain Cancelo
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Bayern Munich are reportedly 'unlikely' to exercise their option to make marquee defender Joao Cancelo's loan move from Manchester City permanent in the summer transfer window.

The report adds that Chelsea and Real Madrid are the two most likely options for the 28-year-old if he does leave City this summer, while he could also remain part of Pep Guardiola's squad.
