After 14 trophy laded years with Real Madrid, French striker Karim Benzema decided to depart the club to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. Since he left, there have been rumors about who will replace the legendary striker.
The Los Blancos have since signed forward Joselu from Espanyol on a season-long loan, and manager Carlo Ancelotti said they are set in the strikers' department.
Benzema left Madrid after making 648 appearances, and he scored 354 goals and assisted 165. He also won five Champions League crowns and four La Liga titles. Only Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more goals than Benzema.
The 35-year-old later signed for Al-Ittihad, joining his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo and other high-profile players who have moved to Saudi Arabia, per BBC.
Ancelotti on Benzema
Speaking in Dallas, USA, Madrid coach Ancelotti said the club are fine in their strikers' department after the signings of Joseulu and Brahim Diaz, who returns after three years at AC Milan.
"I think we are complete. The new players are doing very well. Brahim and Joselu have shown that they can contribute to the team offensively. I think the team has a lot of attacking options to give us chances to score goals."
Ancelotti added that the club has moved on from Benzema, Casemiro, and Ronaldo.
"We have fantastic memories of Benzema and what he did here. I shall be forever grateful to him because he gave us the chance to win the Champions League. Real Madrid continues and has continued without Cristiano, Bale or Casemiro."
