It only took six minutes for Andre Onana to concede a goal for Manchester United.

There was no offside call as Bellingham made his run towards the penalty box to collect the pass.

He then controlled the ball perfectly before executing a fantastic chip over the onrushing Onana.

It was a disappointing start for United, who also lost Kobbie Mainoo to injury in the early minutes of the contest, per Manchester Evening News.

Onana redeemed himself in the 25th minute when he made a terrific save to deny Vinicius Junior.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper thwarted the Real Madrid star’s shot attempt with his left hand after the latter made a strong run down the left flank.

Ten Hag picks strong lineup

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag picked a strong starting lineup for their match against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.

Andre Onana was chosen to start between the posts for United in his first game for the club since completing his blockbuster move from Inter Milan.

Joining Onana in the starting XI were Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Luke Shaw, Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Alejandro Garnacho, and Marcus Rashford.

United fans cheered on their new keeper as he warmed up before the game against the Spanish giants.

Ten Hag spoke about his new keeper in an interview with MUTV before the game, saying: "He integrated, he knows how we want to play — he's relaxed and comfortable with the squad."

Onana's debut ended in disappointment, however, as the Red Devils lost 2-0 to Real Madrid, per Yahoo Sports.

Onana replaces De Gea

Ten Hag moved for Onana at the end of the season after previously working with the Cameroonian goalkeeper at Ajax.

The 27-year-old joined United on a five-year contract, with the option for a sixth.

Ten Hag’s pursuit of Onana prompted longtime goalkeeper David de Gea to part ways with Manchester United.

He was the Red Devils’ first-choice keeper for the past dozen years. The Spanish star made 545 appearances for the club after joining United under legendary manager, Sir Alex Ferguson.

He set a club record for a United goalkeeper in terms of shutouts, recording 190 clean sheets during his time with the Premier League giants.

Manchester United's Serie A signings

Sports Brief recently reported on United's last eight signings from Serie A before they captured Onana.

The players the Red Devils bought from the Italian league were Cristiano Ronaldo, Amad Diallo, Paul Pogba, Matteo Darmian, Sergio Romero, Guiseppe Rossi, Juan Sebastian Veron, and Laurent Blanc.
