Black Stars defender, Daniel Amartey has disclosed that he had to consult former Ghana teammates, Kevin Prince Boateng and Bernard Mensah before joining Besiktas.
The ex-Leicester City centre-back joined the Turkish giants in the summer transfer window on a three-year deal.
Amartey, who won the English Premier League and the FA Cup with Leicester City, is buzzing to make his debut after being named in the squad to face KF Tirana in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers.
"I am very happy to be here. Beşiktaş Stadium is a beautiful stadium and I can't wait to play," he told Besiktas Media.
Boateng and Mensah are the notable Ghanaian players to have played for Besiktas, with the latter helping them win the league in the 2020/21 season.
"My friends (K.P Boateng and Bernard Mensah) have said very positive things about the club. I had the opportunity to play against them in England. I know how they play. Now we will fight in the same team with Rachid Ghezzal. It will be a good opportunity for us. We had a good friendship with Rachid Ghezzal in Leicester. As I said before, I spoke to him. I called him and got information about the club. I am happy to meet him again. I am happy to be here. I think Beşiktaş fans will enjoy watching me," Amartey added.
Amartey spent seven years in England but decided to leave the Foxes after his contract expired at the end of the season, as reported by Leicester Mercury.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Amartey has met new Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino, sparking rumours of a possible move to London.
The Black Stars centre-back left relegated Premier League side Leicester City at the end of the season following eight years at the King Power stadium.
Amartey won the English Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Community Shield during his time with the Foxes.
