Gundogan who has since spoken on factors and individuals that ensured he chose Barcelona amongst his numerous suitors also made clear his choice of the best midfield trio in history.

Gundogan’s best-ever midfield trio

The German international recently sat in an interview with Catalunya paper SPORT and he didn’t hold back his allure as to what his best midfield trio in history is.

Gundogan who revealed his admiration for the iconic treble-winning Barcelona team was quoted by Goal to have said:

“I remember a moment that I will never forget, which is Ronaldinho’s performance at the Bernabeu, where even the Real Madrid fans applauded him.
I really enjoyed watching that.
Not just Ronaldinho. All of Barca as a team playing that day.
That is perhaps the most important moment I remember.
But I have seen many games in La Liga or in the Champions League where the midfield of Busquets, Xavi and Iniesta, who for me was the best in the world, played in an incredible way and I grew up learning from them.”

Ilkay Gundogan could depart Barcelona

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ilkay Gundogan joined La Liga champions, Barcelona, on a free transfer after capturing a European treble in his final year at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Manchester City captain has also secured a reported £7.7 million insurance policy should Barcelona’s financial troubles stop him from playing this season.

Gundogan will not take a risk and has a special clause inserted in his contract that could see him depart Barcelona if the club is not able to register him due to any financial problems.
