The long wait is finally over.
Lionel Messi is expected to make his much-anticipated US debut tonight when Inter Miami lock horns with Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.
Celebrities flocked to DRV PNK Stadium to watch the Argentine star play, including reality star Kim Kardashian, who went to the game with her kids.
She was seen entering the arena wearing a white shirt and tight jeans while her kid donned Messi’s Inter Miami No. 10 jersey.
She was also spotted hanging out with David and Victoria Beckham before the game started.
The main star, however, was Messi, who sent his fans into a frenzy when he arrived at the stadium ahead of his debut.
He was spotted wearing a pink Adidas shirt as he entered the venue.
He is starting tonight’s game on the bench but is expected to be brought on later in the contest as a substitute, per Fox Sports.
Inter Miami ticket prices soar
Messi’s first game for his new MLS team is the hottest ticket in town, with prices soaring to as much as $110,000 for tonight’s contest.
That is one of the most expensive ticket prices ever recorded for a Major League Soccer club.
Prices jumped for some seats in Messi’s new home stadium after he officially signed with Inter Miami last Saturday in a blockbuster deal reported to be worth between $50 to $60 million per season.
To further demonstrate the Messi effect on prices, tickets to last year’s League Cup showdown between FC Barcelona and Inter Miami only cost about half of that.
Messi lands in Florida ahead of Inter Miami move
FootballTicket prices overall for Inter Miami have soared about 700 percent since June when Messi was reportedly considering a move to the MLS.
Those sales are not bad at all for a team that is currently languishing in the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings.
Messi doesn't like artificial turfs
Sports Brief recently reported on Messi possibly refusing to play some MLS games.
The former Barcelona forward is said to be unwilling to play some games due to the stadium's artificial turfs.
Six MLS clubs currently have such grounds.
