Sports Brief looks at the head-to-head meetings between the MLS All-Stars and the Premier League clubs.

MLS All-Stars vs. Fulham (2005)

The first MLS All-Star Game that featured a Premier League club happened in 2005 when Fulham faced the best players in Major League Soccer.

Colorado forward, Jeff Cunningham scored a pair of goals in the dying minutes to seal a 4-1 victory for the MLS All-Stars.

Claus Jensen scored the only goal for Fulham, converting a spot kick in the 34th minute after Chris Albright fouled Luis Boa Morte inside the box.

MLS All-Stars vs. Chelsea (2006)

The MLS All-Stars made it two wins in a row against Premier League clubs after defeating Chelsea in the 2006 edition of the showpiece event.

Dwayne De Rosario scored in the 70th minute to hand the MLS side a 1-0 victory over the Blues, who had Didier Drogba, Andriy Shevchenko, Frank Lampard, John Terry, Michael Essien, and Michael Ballack in their starting lineup.

MLS All-Stars vs. West Ham (2008)

It was West Ham’s turn to test the MLS All-Stars in 2008. The Hammers suffered the same fate as Fulham and Chelsea, losing 3-2 to the MLS selection.

Dean Ashton scored twice for the Hammers in the loss to the David Beckham-led MLS All-Stars.

De Rosario bagged the match-winning goal for the MLS selection, scoring a penalty in the 70th minute.

MLS All-Stars vs. Everton (2009)

Everton finally snapped the Premier League clubs’ three-game losing streak against the MLS All-Stars, beating them 4-3 in the penalty shootout in the 2009 edition.

Leighton Baines, Phil Neville, Joleon Lescott, and Jack Rodwell each scored a penalty in the shootout for the Toffees.

MLS All-Stars vs. Manchester United (2010)

European powerhouse Manchester United traveled to the United States in 2010 to face the MLS All-Stars. The Red Devils were simply too strong for the MLS side, recording a 5-2 win at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Federico Macheda was named the MVP of the contest after scoring a double inside the opening 12 minutes.

MLS All-Stars vs. Manchester United (2011)

The two sides squared off once again in 2011, but the result remained the same. Manchester United crushed the MLS All-Stars 4-0 at Red Bull Arena.

Anderson, Park Ji-Sung, Dimitar Berbatov, and Danny Welbeck scored the goals for the Red Devils, per The Guardian.

MLS All-Stars vs. Chelsea (2012)

Six years after their initial meeting, the MLS All-Stars and Chelsea locked horns once again in the showpiece event. Just like in 2006, the MLS selection emerged victorious, pulling off a 3-2 victory over the Blues in the All-Star Game.

Chris Pontius and Eddie Johnson scored in the 73rd and 90th minutes to give the MLS side a come-from-behind win.

MLS All-Stars vs. Tottenham (2015)

Tottenham got their first taste of the MLS All-Star Game in 2015. Kaka opened the scoring for the MLS All-Stars in the 20th minute. David Villa then doubled their advantage with a strike three minutes later.

Harry Kane pulled one goal back in the 37th minute, but unfortunately for Spurs, they failed to find an equalizer.

MLS All-Stars vs. Arsenal (2016)

Arsenal fans in the United States got to watch the Gunners face the MLS All-Stars in 2016. They weren’t disappointed as Arsenal recorded a 2-1 win over the MLS selection.

Chuba Akpom scored the winning goal for the Premier League side in the 87th minute.

MLS All-Stars vs. Arsenal (2023)

It took seven years for a Premier League side to appear once again in the MLS All-Star Game. Arsenal were selected to test the MLS All-Stars after their strong showing in the 2022-23 Premier League season.

They displayed their class in the showpiece event, thumping the MLS All-Stars 5-0 at Audi Field.

Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz scored the goals for Arsenal, per Sporting News.

Bukayo Saka named MVP

The young Englishman was given the award after his dazzling display in the first half.
