- Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's exit from Stamford Bridge is just about concluded
- Since joining the Blues from Barcelona, Auba has endured a disappointing spell
- He is expected to complete his switch to Olympique Marseille this week
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reached an agreement to join French Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille, departing from Chelsea.
After a challenging period with the Blues, Aubameyang is set to sign a three-year contract with the former European champions, where he will reunite with former Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez.
The transfer between Chelsea and Marseille is reported to be fee-free, as the Premier League club has allowed the striker to leave without a transfer fee, per Fabrizio Romano.
Auba is scheduled to travel to Germany tonight, where he will undergo medical tests on Thursday, July 20. Following the medical examination, he will join his new teammates at their preseason camp.
This move marks Aubameyang's fourth venture into French football, having previously represented AS Saint-Étienne, AS Monaco, and LOSC Lille.
Throughout his career at the aforementioned clubs, he has accumulated an impressive record of 41 goals and 26 assists in 120 appearances, per Transfermarkt.
Aubameyang hails Robert Lewandowski
Meanwhile, the Gabonese forward has named Robert Lewandowski as the footballer who had the most significant impact on his career.
Despite facing challenges during his return to the Premier League with Chelsea, the well-travelled striker has earned a revered reputation in his position over the past decade.
He heaped praise on the current Barcelona striker. “I love him. He is a player who has taught me a lot."
Auba's cryptic message to Barca
In a previous publication, Sports Brief reported that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may no longer be a Barcelona player but has made it clear he still has a lot of affection for the La Liga champions.
Forgotten Chelsea defender now longest-serving player after Stamford Bridge exodus
FootballThe striker was spotted in the dressing room earlier this season after Barcelona beat Real Madrid in an El Clasico clash, which did not go down well with his current club side, Chelsea.
Reports suggest the gesture was a way for Aubameyang to secure his return to the Spanish club perhaps. His latest social media activity may not impress the Blues either, with the striker showing off again his love for Barcelona.
