Following Inter Miami's disappointing loss to St. Louis City on July 15, a football fan found delight in the Florida-based club's defeat and took the opportunity to taunt new signing Lionel Messi indirectly.

Inter Miami has been struggling throughout the ongoing season, as evidenced by their third defeat in their last six games and an 11-game winless streak.

St. Louis City secured their victory with first-half goals from Samuel Adeniran and Tim Parker and a late strike from Eduard Lowen, pushing Inter Miami to the bottom of the Eastern Conference in Major League Soccer (MLS).

The defeat came shortly after Lionel Messi's confirmation as a new player for Inter Miami, as reported by ESPN.

Unfortunately, the announcement of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner as a player of the club did not have the immediate impact Gerardo Martino's men had hoped for, according to GOAL.

This provided an opportunity for a St. Louis City fan to take a subtle jab at Messi, as he proudly displayed a mobile phone wallpaper featuring an edited image of the football star appearing older.

Inter Miami lose heavily

Inter Miami will celebrate the signing of Lionel Messi on Sunday but will do so after their winless run extended to 11 games with a 3-0 defeat at St. Louis City on Saturday, leaving them rock bottom of Major League Soccer, Sports Brief reported.

Miami confirmed the arrival of Messi hours before their game kicked off in Missouri, but that couldn't inspire Gerardo Martino's team to victory as they suffered their 14th defeat in 22 games.

The team is bottom of the Eastern Conference, and their latest loss also left them in last place in the overall standings -- 29th of 29 clubs.

Inter Miami confirm Messi capture

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Lionel Messi has been announced as the newest addition to Major League Soccer (MLS) team, Inter Miami. The 36-year-old superstar's acquisition by the club was revealed on Saturday, July 15th.

Following his remarkable career with Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona, where he achieved success in virtually every major competition, Messi now embarks on a new chapter in his career in the MLS.
