Five players who recorded the fastest sprint times during the 2022–23 Champions League have been confirmed by UEFA.

Manchester City clinched their first-ever European championship title in June, yet surprisingly, none of the top ten fastest players in the tournament were part of their victorious squad.

Inter suffered defeat in the final, and interestingly, none of their players were included in UEFA's list of the top ten performers.

5. Gabriel Veron

Anybody else immediately think of Juan Sebastian when Veron's name is mentioned?

The young Brazilian winger has only played one season in Europe so far, but he has stunned everyone with his destruction of touchlines with chalk on the boots.

Club: Porto

Top speed: 36.4 km/h

4. Rafael Leao

Club: AC Milan

Top speed: 36.5 km/h

Milan were matched up against rivals Inter in the last four of the Champions League and were considered favourites to win after defeating runaway Serie A leaders Napoli in the quarterfinals.

But on the eve of the first leg, star player Leao sustained an injury and had to be rushed back to try to reduce a two-goal deficit in the second leg. Inter took off for Istanbul after Milan fell short.

3. Ousmane Dembele

Following a drawn-out contract extension into 2022, Xavi was able to persuade Ousmane Dembele to remain at Barcelona, and both parties have benefited from the choice to do so.

However, Barça was abruptly eliminated from the Champions League during the group stage. Again.

Club: Barcelona

Top speed: 36.6 km/h

2. Mykhailo Mudryk

Mykhailo Mudryk had a conflicted 2022–2023 season, establishing himself with Shakhtar Donetsk as one of Europe's top prospects but failing to take off after joining Chelsea.

He's still working on combining all of his talents, but his lightning speed is undeniable.

1. Alphonso Davies

Go back and take a closer look at the distance between the chasing pack and Alphonso Davies if you haven't been paying attention to these players' top speeds up to this point.

The left-back for Bayern Munich was the fastest player in the Champions League last year, outpacing everyone by a startling 0.5 km/h.
