FootballLaporta Shuts Down Rumours Linking Barca Star Dembele to Replace Mbappe at PSG
- Joan Laporta is unwilling to allow Ousmane Dembele join Paris Saint-Germain
- PSG see Dembele as the Barcelona player to replace wantaway Kylian Mbappe
- The Ligue 1 champions are ready to activate Dembele’s €50million release clause
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has laughed off rumours linking star forward Ousmane Dembele with a summer move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Dembele has been one of Barcelona’s stand-out players in recent reasons and have now been linked as the perfect player to replace Kylian Mbappe at PSG if the France forward leaves this summer.
According to Sportskeeda, Laporta has insisted Dembele is happy at the Catalan club and will not be leaving anytime, shutting down any rumours of any possible exit.
"PSG want Ousmane Dembélé if Mbappé leaves? I heard this story also one year ago… but it didn't happen. Dembélé wants to stay at Barça, and I think he's not pushing to go anywhere."
PSG are willing to trigger Dembele’s release clause worth €50million to force a move for the Barcelona star despite the French forward being in negotiations with the Catalan club for a contract extension.
Dembele uninterested in PSG move
Meanwhile, Ousmane Dembele will reject a transfer move away from Barcelona this summer despite being strongly linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Football Espana reports.
The French international is into the final 12 months of his contract at the Camp Nou, with Xavi determined to keep him in Catalonia on an updated deal.
Dembele's agents have been in contact with the Barcelona management about extending the winger’s contract at the Catalan club until 2024.
Barcelona keen to keep Dembele
Earlier, Sports Brief reported Barcelona are desperate to keep Ousmane Dembele at the Spanish side for a few more seasons.
The French attacker’s contract expires at the end of the 2024 season, but he currently has a €50 million release clause.
The relatively cheap releases clause means that other teams could pay it to sign the player without having to negotiate with the club, with Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain already signifying their interest.
