Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount elicited mixed reactions after a video surfaced on social media of the midfielder getting hounded by fans.
Mount completer a £55 million switch from Chelsea and has immediately been integrated into Erik Ten Hag’s squad, making his debut in the 2-0 win over Leeds in Oslo on Wednesday.
The 24-year old did not have the best of games, but Ten Hag remains confident he will blend seamlessly with his plans for the 2023/24 season.
Away from the pitch and Mount caught the eye of social media users after a video of him turning down anxious fans emerged online.
In the video shared by @StokkeyG2 on Twitter, Mount, who is in his Manchester United tracksuit, is approached and hounded by several fans, who are determined to have him sign their shirts.
The exact location of the incident is unclear, but Mount can be heard saying:
“You know I ain't signing it, sorry lads.”
Here are some reactions from fans who watched the video:
@mcphee said:
"As he should to be honest he’s human,"
@BenHope added:
"He knows they aren’t fans they just selling them on that’s why he refused."
It is quite understandable that Mount snubbed the fans, particularly because it was pitch black when they decided to make their request to the star midfielder.
Also, Mount is coming from a harrowing stalker incident, involving Tiktoker Orla Melissa Sloan.
As reported on The Mirror, Sloan narrowly escaped jail time after being found guilty of stalking Mount and his former teammates Ben Chilwell and Billy Gilmour. She initially met up and had a brief romance with Mount in 2020.
